The Technical Goat 1K Heats - Race #5 in the Goat Boater SUP Race Series

Register today on PaddleGuru!

Just maybe our favorite race of the year! This race is all about taking us out of our comfort zone and testing our technical skills with multiple buoy turns. This race also introduces us to a newer format of heat racing that requires managing your energy throughout the morning. This 1K course contains 5-6 buoy turns where you will go head-to-head over 3-4 heats to win it all. This is a sitting water start and a photo water finish.

The start/finish line is right off the shore and offers great views for spectators at The Tega Cay Beach Club.

For our less crazy racers out there and/or 1st timers, please sign up for the Technical Fun Run! A great way to get introduced to the sport with very low pressure. You will paddle with other competitors out there to have fun with friends, family, and kids. The Fun Run will consist of 1 lap through the course, no heats.

$600 Cash Purse for this race!

Racers will progress through heats throughout the morning, most likely doing 2-3 heats.

Board and gear demos will be available after the race.

This year, we will be going to Model A Brewing for lunch and post-race fun!  Model A has a great lunch menu and a full bar. Please plan to join us after the last race finishes for lunch and friendship!

All Goat Boater Races are SUP only event.  There will be no other kayaks, OC's or other crafts to dodge.

Join the Infinity Speed Freaks race weekend by registering for private and group clinics with Professional Paddler & Waterwoman, Candice Appleby. Clinics are now open for registration on PaddleGuru. Speed Freak VIP weekend fun packages are open to Goat Boater Alumni and Speed Freak Guests by invitation only. Email Megan@GoatBoater.com with questions.

The Goat Boater Race Series:

The Goat Boater SUP Race Series, located in Tega Cay, South Carolina was created by Rob & Megan Cynowa. The series is an extremely unique 6 event summer race series that attracts many local racers and paddlers from the surrounding 5 states and Canada. This series consists of sprints, mid-range and longer distance paddles for all level paddlers. Each race (1 per month) of the series is different, unique, includes a 1kish fun run and ALWAYS a 1 mile social paddle afterwards!

Come challenge your skills over the season as we travel between 3 beautiful locations on Lake Wylie, South Carolina. These locations were strategically picked as they have great high up views where spectators and family will be able to view most of the race.  Individual participation medals will be given each race, podium finishers for all categories, cash prizes for top 3 male and female riders and series awards will be given at the end of the season to those who have the most cumulative points.

The best of up to 4 of the 6 races will go towards season standings. https://canadianpaddleleague.ca/club-races/goat-boater-series/ Those who complete 4 of the 6 races will be rewarded. Better yet, Complete 6 of 6 races and get a few bonus points for end of season totals!

2023 is the year of cash!  Goat Boater Race Series will be awarding over $5,000 cash this season for individual races and end of season winners!
